Rivoland Tiles is a family owned business established in the late 1970s. Operating in three different locations across Canberra and Queanbeyan, their showrooms display tiles in a variety of finishes, suitable for almost any application. The owners travel the world each year to directly import hand-picked, exclusive, innovative tile collections with strong design integrity. The Rivoland design team members pride themselves on being well-informed and experienced in helping customers find a product that suits their personality, budget and style.
The History of Rivoland
The original founders Antonio Guglielmin and Gabriella Guglielmin migrated from Italy in pursuit of a “better life”, eventually establishing themselves in Queanbeyan. In the 1970’s, Antonio identified an opportunity in the Queanbeyan/Canberra Region to distribute and fix Italian granular marble, a texture coating for walls that had a strong European influence. Collaborating with relatives in Melbourne that were stockists, he commenced operations under Rivoland. The Rivoland business model evolved in the late 1970s to specialise in ceramic and porcelain tile offerings, driven by an evident shortage of manufactured materials in the construction industry.

How to Overcome Common Challenges Faced when Renovating your Home
Refining products/narrowing selections:
Prior to visiting, it is recommended that you brainstorm a few ideas and look for inspiration. For example, exploring display homes, Pinterest, Instagram, interior design and architectural projects may help to develop your ideas. This will allow you to better visualise the trend that you are gravitating towards.
Understand the benefits of tiles:
Using tiles has significant advantages; they will generally resist dirt and wear much more effectively than other products such as timber.Tiles are perfect for high-traffic areas and all wet zones, as they are functional and easy to clean. Pending on the space, Rivoland’s qualified design consultants will offer their expertise on the various different tile finishes available, ensuring that they are appropriate to your space.
Consider adding a shower niche or shower shelf:
The planning of shower storage and the opportunity to create a feature around your shower storage space can instantly elevate your bathroom. Not only does it add convenience, it is also becoming an increasingly popular feature of the stylish modern bathroom and something that can add value to your home.
Grout selection:
Choosing the right colour of grout can make a huge difference in the overall aesthetic of a space. Choose a contrasting colour for a dramatic look, or complementary colour for a more subtle, seamless option. To keep your grout looking fresh we recommend using Aquamix products, which are specifically designed for cleaning any natural stone, tile or grout surface.

The Latest Home Renovation Trends to Watch:
Natural Connection: Embracing indoor to outdoor living with the introduction of more light and shifting away from cool greys. This is where soft, earthy tones including shades of off-white, beige, cashmere, ivory and tan are combined with textural and raw finishes to create calmness.
Introduction of curves: Curves are popping up everywhere from showers and hallway arches to island benchtops. The introduction of curves can add a visual rhythm that creates softness and instantaneously makes us feel more relaxed. In bathroom spaces, curved shower walls wrapped in mosaics or screens are a design feature that adds impact to a small bathroom design.
Frameless shower screens: A popular option for modern bathroom renovations. The elimination of a bulky frame from the glass shower screen creates a seamless and sleek look, giving the illusion of additional space.
Shower shelf: A shower shelf is a ledge that is built in front of a shower wall, designed to hold toiletries and personal care items. The shower shelf has evolved from the recessed, built in shelf or storage space within a shower wall. Considering the design of your shower space and applicable storage is critical for your design concept.
Marble tiles: It’s no secret that natural stone adds a touch of luxury to any space. A marble tile in a bathroom, be it on the floor, the walls or both, can be surprisingly versatile. With varying types of marble interpretations from soft to more dramatic tones, marble inspired collections are the perfect choice for any home. They evoke an air of luxury, Hamptons Charm or the opulence of a five-star hotel.
Vertical tile wall: Subway tiles have become a great bathroom feature. These were originally inspired by New York train stations and are now progressing into residential homes and commercial spaces. The iconic vertical stacked subway tiles have gained traction to emphasise height in a room.
