Can you give us an overview of your business, including the services you offer and how they interconnect to provide the best promotional experience to any brand?
Danielle Cleary Events (DCE) makes ideas come to life through compelling, innovative and memorable campaigns, content and events.
Our many services include event design, management, model hosting, sponsorship, collaboration, social media management, influencer engagement, and brand activation– the art of driving consumer action through brand interaction and experiences.
In simple terms, the key aim of these sorts of campaigns is to get consumers to act. It’s about bringing brands to life via experiences and forming long-term emotional connections.
What are your underpinning brand values and what do you aim to contribute to the Queanbeyan and surrounding community through your services?

What was the inspiration behind your business and what advice would you extend to young people looking to follow a similar path?
My daughters Charlise and Laila were the inspiration behind my business. Through my children’s love of sport and modelling I was propelled to establish DCE. I have always had a love for events, sponsorship, collaboration and people and I was inspired by the idea of combining these passions and building a thriving business from them.
My advice to anyone looking to turn their passions into a thriving business is to continue to follow your passions. If you love what you do it doesn’t feel like work. I advise to research, plan, learn, make industry connections and believe that success will follow. My first contract was managing The Canberra Fair Fashion Parades for a large exposition company and today I own it!
What was the inspiration behind The Model Host Search component of your business and how does it tie in with other goals and community values of your company?
Each year DCE is excited to announce the launch of our Model Host Search. We look for motivated, committed and confident talent wanting to gain work experience and connections in the events and modelling industry. We have unearthed many gems, such as our OG winner Lorna Munro, who has worked for national brands including ShowPo and BYS Cosmetics, and Emma Vanderhoek, who was signed to Priscillas Models post-winning.
The role is a 12-month mentorship, offering the winner ‘on the job’ flexible learning experience and exposure to industry professionals in a creative and encouraging environment.

Tell us more about this year’s Canberra Fair event.
Our recent Canberra Fair was a day of spectacle! People picnicked under our giant tipi in the National Convention Centre Park with delicious savory and sweet treats. We danced to DJ beats and boogied with our live band and were wowed by our aerial artist performances. Everyone enjoyed taking selfies in a luxury vehicle, pimped motorcycle and a classic wooden speedboat. They also had the chance to explore and shop premium wedding, event, travel and lifestyle exhibits with many prizes to be won. The local bakers’ delicious cake displays were sampled, and our VIP’s experienced our stunning fashion parades under a giant naked tipi with florals and a chandelier to die for! Planning is currently underway for a bigger and better July 2024 Canberra Fair and we’re seeking sponsorship and exhibitor expression of interest in joining us for all the fun of the fair.
What are your personal ties to creativity, content creation, fashion and event design and is your business something that you always envisioned yourself pursuing?
I started my working career in small business building management but found myself drawn to creative outlets such as drawing, dressing my little ones in designer clothing and collecting beautiful furnishings and art for my home. Putting my hand up to assist my children’s sports club, fundraising activities and presentation events along with volunteering for the Face of Canberra Racing and other local events, I found a love for the event industry. Anyone can plan an event but not everyone can conceive great ideas! Today, DCE continues to drive customer engagement and build up brand goals through creativity, connection, customization and innovation. This is truly where I belong.
Where do you see your business growing in the near and distant future?
DCE is in an exciting growth phase with our brand Canberra Fair, a wedding, event, travel and lifestyle Fair, providing ‘inspiration for any occasion’. Our Fair is an exciting must-attend on the Canberra calendar of events. The corporate event space is back bigger and better and we are currently working alongside the Australian Federal Police Legacy who are currently seeking sponsorship and event management for their 2023 Gala Ball. We also have a general rebrand coming, so stay tuned!
