The Oaks Ranch is a little slice of paradise hidden within the tranquil, lush valleys of Mossy Point. The original structure for the ranch was built circa 1970 by a San Francisco based American insurance executive.
The Architecture
The Spanish architecture of the building was inspired by the original owner’s hometown of San Francisco, where Spanish Mission buildings are particularly prominent.
When current owners Martin Cork and Lisa Carroll purchased the property, they were faced with the choice to demolish and rebuild the iconic building in a modern style or to keep the existing Spanish style. Ultimately, it was decided to keep the original Spanish Mission features of the building, while adding some modern contemporary luxuries to freshen up the design.
The Oaks Ranch is an incredibly unique 300-acre property on the South Coast flanked by the beautiful Tomaga River and Candlagan Inlet. What sets this esteemed property apart is the rural charm and expansive views toward the western ranges which evoke a sense of calmness. Another surprising draw card for guests is the proximity to the coast. Being only five minutes away from the stunning Beaches of Broulee and Mossy point, the location is of great convenience, however, there are not many reasons to leave the magnificent property.
The Ranch boasts many amenities, including an impressive Magnesium Pool, 3 fire pits surrounded by large lounges, a challenging nine-hole golf course, and a restaurant/bar named ‘Arlo’ that caters to breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The Magnesium Wellness Pool
Swimming in a magnesium pool will give you an entirely different experience than a chlorine or saltwater pool. This is due to the absence of chemicals, eliminating the smell of chlorine and any irritation to the eyes and skin from the equation. Magnesium also provides a vast list of health benefits including soothing of the muscles, nourishing hair and skin, and providing a general detoxifying effect over the entire body. The Oaks Ranch team are planning to install a heater to lengthen the shoulder of swim seasons so guests can enjoy this incredibly nourishing and relaxing experience for a longer period.

All About Restaurant Arlo
The name Arlo means ‘behind two hills’’ and is inspired by the Spanish Mission architecture of the property and also its’ location. The esteemed restaurant specialises in Modern Australian cuisine presented in a contemporary style which is focused on emphasising the delicious flavours it has to offer. The restaurant staff offer a refined service that is friendly, casual, and familiar, making guests feel right at home.
Upon arrival, guests are encouraged to relax in the hotel lounge to enjoy their favourite aperitif or cocktail by the large open fire prior to entering the restaurant. The intimate dining room has additional seating at the bar and lounge seating at the kitchen for those wanting to get closer to the action.
The room opens onto a large alfresco dining area with sweeping views across the pool to the mountains on the horizon… think Mediterranean summers.
Truffle Season!
This truffle season, Arlo created an exclusive dinner menu which offered a bespoke selection of dishes incorporating truffles. The truffle dinner was a great opportunity for the restaurant to highlight a small portion of the amazing local produce found on the South Coast. This dinner will definitely become a recurring event at Arlo every year, so keep an eye out!
